Nocturnal Bird Survey 2014

February 3, 2014 by Nick Hawkins No Comment

On the night of February 1st, the Tambor Bay Birders set out to conduct the areas first nocturnal bird survey. It was an exciting night! The group had excellent looks at a pair of black and white owls, a species that is marked as absent from the Nicoya Peninsula, previously unknown to the area and a new one for the Tambor Bay list!

We also saw and/or heard at least five Mottled Owls and a Pacific Screech Owl, and saw numerous Common Paraques.

The group was even treated to great looks at a Kinkajou! Thanks to everyone who came out and made the night a big success. We hope to do more of these nocturnal bird surveys in the future!
