Valentine’s Day Junior Birders Count
On Valentine’s Day morning the Junior Birders got together to do their part of the Valentine’s Days birding count that happened in Tambor Bay on the 14th and 15th. The junior birders got a lesson in birding and bird identification from our expert visitors from La Selva Biological Station; Ileana and Joel Alvarado. Both have been guiding professionally in Costa Rica for many years and were kind enough to help us with our bird count and take the junior birders out for a morning of birding. The day started off in the back rancho of Tambor Tropical for a quick breakfast and birding talk with Ruth Rodriguez and Joel.
We then started along the main trail, beginning at the Panica River mouth and going up the river.
It was a great morning with lots of activity within the mangroves and surrounding forest. The junior birders did a great job and were a very keen bunch, we definitely have some future guides in the group! In total they helped to record 68 species. You can see more photos of the kids and the birds they saw by visiting the Junior Birders Valentine’s Count album on Facebook.
